Rock n Roll Half Marathon

Sunday, March 14 I ran my first Half Marathon. That sentence makes me very proud. I worked hard for it, met my goal and cannot wait to do it again.
I ran with my longtime friend and college roomie, Melanie. She did great. We did great. We were together the whole time...ebbing each other's flows...or something like that. She sped up so I sped up and vice versa. It wouldn't have been half as cool without her. Thanks to my in-laws for coming to support me...it is amazing how much energy you draw from the crowd. The supporters make you laugh, wave, pump your fists, yell, give you chills, cry (yup Mel and I both teared up & got chills a few times-it's overall just an emotional experience). Some funny signs were-"Run Like Tiger Woods Wife is Chasing You!" "You Look Hot, Take Your Shirt Off" and countless signs encouraging you to run for the free beer at the finish line! Thanks Mom and Dad for taking great care of my babies-you made this run possible for me. Dillon and Parker I do this for you. Mommy can't wait for you two to start running races with me. Love to all my family and friends-your support means the world. Happy running. Xoxo

View from Here

And so today I go it alone-alone meaning no one over the age of 2 to pitch in. The nerves for Sunday's half marathon are beginning to kick in and flutter around in my tummy (did I really register to run my first big race on a weekend when chris is outta town!? hmm.) I've got the i'm-already-ready-for-my-husband-to-be-home-blues & he's been gone all of 45 minutes.
When it's just me and the boys, Dillon has to find ways to occupy his time while I nurse the baby and get him down for naps (which I feel like I am always doing-but I'll save that for the "is parker gonna wanna nurse til he's 16 post"). Soooo, after getting Parker down I made my way to Dillon's room to get him down and found him like this...
...pretty stinkin' cute. He is the master of being just cute enough to convince me that he should stay up to "playforafew"-which is a statement that is said SO often in our home it all runs together. I think he knows he has to say it really fast otherwise he risks being interrupted with a big fat no. After a little extra time alone with Dillon-mommy time begins-both boys are asleep and it's eerily peaceful. And so today I go it alone-but not really bc I have the most perfect little friends to keep me smiling and keep the pre race nerves away-at least a little. Fingers crossed for no wind on Sunday. Puppy dogs and Gum drops-(Christie-should you ever read this-know that your words echo thru my mind often. Happy words.)

Round 2

Here we go again-this time as a family of four. I decided the old blog has been so pitifully neglected that it may as well be put to rest. I need a do-over. A fresh start. And with this new blog I vow to update daily. And by daily I mean weekly. And by weekly I mean monthly. Err, I will update as much as life with two babies under the age of three allows. To start welcome Parker James Ring. Born June 28, 2009. Happy. Easy-Going. Smiley. Banana Lover. Big Fan of his older brother Dillon and all of his antics. Loud Laugher-Even Louder Crier-thankfully the latter does not happen very often. Will crawl for remote control or blackberry. Proud owner of two new bottom teeth. Hair Puller. Heartwarmer.
